Terms of Use

  • Edit as much as you like, but don't remove any credits present. They are the small teal © symbols at the bottom of every main section of the carrd. Leave them alone. You may change the color to match your custom palette for your carrd but do not make them invisible or hard to see.

  • Don't claim as your own work OR use this template as a base for a different template OR use it for any commissions, paid or not. If you use this template, I don't care how much you edit it, go wild, but the credit has to stay intact and you cannot claim it as your own.

  • Do not use to promote illegal, harmful, or hateful content. No burn books, no hate blogs, no callout blogs, nothing of the sort.


HOW TO CONVERT TO SINGLE MUSE

  • Delete everything below  #muses  and BEFORE #connections.  ( Do not delete #connections itself. )  Make sure you highlight the containers to delete instead of each individual element as that will save lots of time by deleting things in bulk.

  • On the link bar on the main page, at the top of your guidelines page, and at the top of your connections page, change the link from #muses to #muse1 , or alternatively to whatever you rename the section with the muse biography. Change the link title to whatever you prefer, like stats / bio / info / about / etc. Do the same for anywhere else that links to the muses page you have just deleted.

  • In the #muse1 section  ( or whatever you renamed the muse info section to ),  change the return link in the top bar from #muses to #. This way the return will go back to the main page on the carrd.

  • NOTE :  If you rename the scroll point as well  ( the yellow code line directly beneath #muse1 itself ),  you need to change the link of the back to top button to match the new name of the scroll point or else the button will not work.


HOW TO ADD MORE MUSE BIOS

  • At the bottom of the previous muse info section (should be the very bottom of the carrd unless you add other things), add a new #sectionbreak and name it what you wish. If you don't know how to do that, you can just copy the #muse1 break but you MUST rename it. Every section must have an individual name to link to, even if you just go with something simple like #muse1 #muse2 #muse3, so on and so forth.

  • Directly below that, add a scroll point  ( the yellow line ),  or as mentioned above, copy the previous scroll point and rename it if you don't know how to set one up.

  • Copy everything between  #muse1  and your new section and drag everything into place. Make sure you highlight the individual containers to delete instead of each individual element as that will save lots of time by copying and moving things all at once. If done right, you should only have to copy / move 4 things for each new muse you add, unless you also need to copy the section breaks.

  • Go to the back to top button at the bottom of your new muse info section and rename the link to whatever you named the scroll point, NOT the section itself.  ( The yellow, NOT the blue. )

  • Link to the new muse bio wherever you wish. If you link within the carrd itself, such as linking to it from the muse roster here, then you can just link with #whateveryounamedthis, but if you link outside of the carrd (i.e. from tumblr) then you need to put the full link. So your link would be ( https://yourcarrdname.carrd.co/#whateveryounamedthis ).


HOW TO ADD MORE CATEGORIES

  • Make a new yellow scroll point and place it between the last category and the box with the "back to top" button, or wherever you want your new category to go if not at the bottom. Give the scroll point a unique name.

  • Copy a box with the category title and a box with the section of muses in it and move them below the new scroll point you have just made.

  • Click the category buttons at the top, add a new button, and link it to the scroll point you just made. You can rearrange the buttons if the order of the categories has changed.

 001  BASICS .FAIR PLAY . Be fair, be reasonable. It’s okay to grab my muse or to attempt any action that you want, but let me decide for myself exactly how my muse will react or be affected, especially in the event of dire consequences that may befall them.ALL WELCOME .
I will RP with any muse that interests me. Muses of all sorts are more than welcome and highly encouraged!
MAINS/EXCLUSIVITY ?
I do not practice exclusivity, though I will refer to muses who leave heavy impacts on my muses as mains. This just means they are the default version of that particular muse on my blog
WRITING HABITS .
Winging it > Plotting it. My default is to write whatever comes to mind, but I'm not opposed to plotting something out! I might poke you for your preferences regarding scene set-up, if it’s our first time interacting though.
Formatting? For most of my muses, I do use icons and a small text, but that sort of thing is not necessary to thread with me. All I ask is that you cut your posts to the last reply in the chain to keep things clean. If you have problems with reading formatted text, I can always forgo using it, as well. Just let me know!
THREAD STATUS .
If it’s been a while, and you haven’t seen a reply from me, feel free to just flag me down. Chances are tumblr activity ate it. I’ll accept a reply to a thread at any point, at any time, even if it’s been lost for half a year or more. No, seriously. I will.
It’s Okay To Drop Threads! I’ll rarely ask to see where our thread is, so I don't mind if things get dropped unexpectedly. We can always make something new and wrap up the previous thread under the table.
When Do You Drop A Thread? I don’t typically drop threads unless one of us has gone inactive with no sign of reappearing, or if I'm having such a rough time with my mental health that a full draft box wipe is the only solution. That being said, dropping threads is a really rare occurrence. If I'm absolutely struggling to respond to what we have going on, for whatever reason, then I’ll contact you on the matter and see where to go from there.
SELECTIVE .
I follow back at my own discretion. Please don’t take offense if I don’t follow back. I will only follow you back if I’m interested in interacting. If I follow you, I want to interact with you.
Personals. Personal blogs are welcome to follow, just do not clog up my activity feed or reblog personalized or rp content or you will be blocked.

 002  NSFW, SHIPS, VIOLENCE .SEXUAL CONTENT . I do not tend to jump right into sexual content with people nor does actually writing out said interactions interest me much. I tend to be more interested in the relationship between the characters themselves than the smut, basically. I am only really willing to fully write out smut in a thread if I feel comfortable around my rp partner and talk to them often OOC. Please do not try to pressure me into writing smut with any of my muses!SHIPPING . Multiship as a general rule, though with expectations on some muses. It will be marked on their specific about pages! I don’t have any problems with establishing relationships, just please come to me first and ask if we can plot something out (be it something romantic, familial, friendly, hateful, etc.) All relationships exist in their own separate verse unless stated otherwise. For romantic ships only, I will only ship with one portrayal of any particular muse at a time for canons.LIFESPAN WARNINGS . Given how many of my muses are centuries-old supernatural creatures, weird age gaps or lifespan dissonance may apply. Beyond that, I typically follow a three-hit policy as a rule of thumb.
INJURY & OTHER CONTENT . I’m fine with viewing and writing dark content, and with my muses getting roughed up - it’s going to happen, it has happened - but please alert me before initiating things like broken bones, death, major injuries, major scars, etc. Any sort of situation that might leave long-lasting physical or psychological consequences, or which might provoke a Bad End scenario.
No-Goes? I don’t really have any major no-goes. Just don’t be sketchy, and stay in communication so that we can keep track of each other’s boundaries, whether it be through IMs, discord, or even just the tags.

 003  MUN & POLICIES .OOC CONTACT . General heads up I wear out superfast when talking to people, especially in private conversations. Don’t be scared if I'm not super chatty or talk to you often, I just get drained very fast. Discord is available for mutuals upon request. The IM system is also open. Please be aware that I do not roleplay through either unless I am incredibly familiar with you.SPORADIC. Don’t be alarmed if my activity is wonky - my focus is a bit shoddy, so sometimes I'll be super active for weeks, and sometimes I vanish for literal ages. Academic Respect. I will of course be treating these topics as respectfully as possible, with the proper gravity they deserve, and any mention of such content will be tagged accordingly and brought up only when necessary for that muse. That being said there may in fact be uncomfortable or sketchy topics on occasion, most often around topics like kidnapping/abduction, murder, monster's eating humans, and general folklore/occult horror.

In the cursed lands of Ustalav, everyone from prince to peasant valued their privacy, and all knew to mind their business lest they glimpse behind a veil that could doom them and their loved ones.The country of Ustalav was once gripped in undead horrors by a monstrously powerful lich, a near god-like being only stopped by the combined might of the world’s most powerful nations and the gods themselves. Now free from the lich’s rule, Ustalav’s people fear the undead and supernatural without measure, often paranoid of outsiders and holding their superstitions close. In the secluded hamlets of the Ustalavan countryside, many a burning has occurred on the simple suspicion one might be a ghoul or an eldritch cult's agent there to harm what little normally the people had managed to rebuild for themselves in the days following the lich’s fall from power. Of course, that was only the superstitious paranoia of the ‘backwaters’ of Ustalav’s most ‘uncouth’ peasants. The people living in the nation’s many thriving and populous cities knew better.The undead and harmfully supernatural had long been stomped out of Ustalav, replaced by properly studied wizard magic and scientific advancements in steam and engineering the world had never seen. There were no more undead in Ustalav. Certainly nothing as powerful as a vampire would have been left alive by the nations that had freed them from the lich’s clutches. There were no vampires in Ustalav.But of course, there was. They had just gotten clever at hiding away from the inquisition’s ire. A masquerade. One carefully constructed by Ustalav’s vampire residents, placing them and their minions intelligent undead or otherwise, in every corner of society just out of sight. And nowhere were there more vampires than Ustalav’s noble courts, the undead spending decades carefully pulling the strings to maintain their domains to their liking.Alafare’s father, Lucius, was one such vampire. One of the current Barons of Versex with an ambition to climb ever higher, slowly gaining more power in magic, might, and politics, aiming towards taking control of the county itself by ceasing the title from Versex’s long absent Count. But too, her father taught her how to be clever and ruthless. To survive in the cut-throat politics of Ustalav’s courts, and slay any opponent with just a few well-chosen words. Her father taught her the world was a grim and often cruel place, one she had to do all in her power to keep from hurting those she cared for.But when traveling with her mother Eveliana across Ustalav’s countryside, she was the young clever assistant for her mother’s traveling alchemical potions shop. Her mother took care to engross Alafare on the Varisian part of her heritage. One of countless stories and folklore tied to the stars themselves, of a traveling people beloved for eons by the goddess of dreams and fortune herself. Of how the common people of Versex lived, how even the smallest and most paranoid of villages were in truth often just people who deeply loved their neighbor, and lacked the opportunities and education to view anything outside their homes as anything other than a threat. Most would never be allowed the opportunity to flourish in the same way as the people in Ustalav’s cities. Eveliana, as ambitious and brilliant as her vampire husband, took care to make sure Alafare never let the comfort of nobility cloud her vision and make her forget how much the world around her still needed to improve. How much of the world there was still to see and understand. How every person, every town, had a story.And so Alafare decided she would be the one to create that better, brighter world.Fueled by her wanderlust and an urge to explore the world around her and collect stories from people across the globe, once she grew old enough that her magic had come onto its own, Alafare set off to the far-off River Kingdoms. The more commonly named Stolen Lands were a bandit country, unsettled by any and plagued by many dangers. The neighboring country of Restov offered a hefty commission to any adventurers willing to map out the land and establish a settlement of their own to bring order to the vast wilderness filled with nothing but thieves and shady rogues. It was perfect. Far away from Ustalav and its shady courts and its ever-present inquisition. A blank slate for Alafare to spread her wings.Together with a group of four other women, Alafare would spend the next decade building the newly founded nation of Pyria brick by brick. Placed as the lead council member in charge of education and magic within the new country, Alafare rapidly got to work in creating educational institutes open to those from all walks of life and drafting policies meant to raise the voices of the people most overlooked and unheard by society.Too did she grow as a person and a mage. Their new nation attacked by ancient liches, restless ghosts, neighboring powers, and crazed fae alike, Alafare has seen plenty of battles over the years and grown to slowly trust the party that first began this journey with her all those years ago. Among them, even finding the love of her life, the two married some years later.To collect stories from across the lands. To open schools and fund programs to raise up the unheard voices of the lands. And prove that when allowed to be better and learn, even the most paranoid of people could be better. POWERS / ABILITIES:-   Eidolon   An eidolon is a type of powerful and unique outsider linked to a specific summoner. This close tie grants the eidolon unique abilities and traits, including a form shaped by its summoner's desires. Alafare’s eidolon goes by the name Ayliana and was drawn forth by Alafare from the realm of Harrow, where all Varisian folklore and myth are made manifest.The Harrowed Realm is a demiplane only accessible from the Realm of Dreams, due to this, Ayliana largely works off dream-like logic. Her appearance is in a constant shift as Alafare grows in power and can draw more of the eidolon’s essence into the material plane. Ayliana is large enough to take up an entire room, yet not, has claws sharp enough to cut through steel, yet not, has arms unnaturally long and a neck that reaches too far, yet appears as a beautiful human-like woman. Has fangs and could swallow a person whole, yet looks willowy and slender at a glance. She would be rather horrific, if not for how friendly she is when not in combat.Ayliana acts as Alafare’s primary defense against creatures trying to get too close for comfort to the mage. Able to block incoming attacks, stop people trying to move away from her, lock down opponents, and even sacrifice herself for Alafare by absorbing incoming damage which would knock out the summoner. A sentient creature in her own right, Ayliana is not bound to obey Alafare’s commands, instead acting out of her own volition, ever loyal and loving towards her summoner, whom the eidolon views as a beloved child.Where Alafare is a mage standing back from the combat, Ayliana is a tank right at the front lines. And the eidolon is skilled in using that bulk to keep Alafare safe in a fight. Unlike most summons, once summoned by Alafare at the beginning of the day Ayliana can stay around for as long as Alafare is awake. Because of this, she rarely leaves the summoner’s side.-   Summoning Magic   Alafare is a master class summoner, able to swiftly call forth a truly astounding variety of creatures from across the many planes. Unlike many summoners, who are bound to only be able to call creatures matching their cosmic alignments, Alafare can summon well outside of her own, drawing upon the powers of the hells themselves should the need arise. To Alafare, she views her summons as her friends and allies and works to establish relationships with the creatures she summons forth by way of giving them various offerings or rewards for their aid. Though the nature of summoning magic binds the creatures she calls to Alafare’s will while they remain on the material plane, Alafare tries to not take advantage of the psychic link between them, and acts to the nature of whatever she summons for the task she needs to be done. Alafare’s summons are akin to ‘physical projections’ of the creature she is calling upon and will vanish back to their home plane upon being defeated, with no real harm coming to the creature that was summoned. Furthermore, Alafare’s summons do not last indefinitely, and will naturally return home after some time if not dismissed early by the summoner.-   Teleportation Magic   Second only to her ability for summoning, Alafare possesses a variety of powerful teleportation spells. From being able to blink short distances away, to traversing between entire regions or across the planes themselves. She is so adept at teleportation magic that she is even able to create magical ‘dead zones’ that lock teleportation of any kind within their radius, useful for locking down particularly slippery opponents, and can turn her teleportation into an offensive spell, by teleporting her foes to maze-like mirror dimensions to keep them trapped until they can find their way out.-   General Magecraft   Though summoning is her specialization, Alafare is a mage with access to several general buffing and debuffing spells. Though not as vast or powerful at spellcasting as a wizard or sorcerer may be, she still has quite a few tricks up her sleeve. However, she largely relies on using her magic to boost the abilities of her allies; party members and summons alike.-   Magic Item Use   To make up for her lack of spellcasting, Alafare has trained to become exceptionally gifted in the use of magical items. From powerful scrolls that can revive the dead, magical weapons, and strange artifacts of all kinds, Alafare often comes to conflicts very well-prepared.-   Notable Equipment  - Bag of Holding/Handy Haversack A backpack that appears to be well-made, well-used, and quite ordinary but is much, much bigger on the inside. The Handy Haversack has a spell cast upon it that allows Alafare to reach in and always find whatever object she is looking for at the very top of the bag without needing to search through it. Within this Haversack Alafare then keeps a Bag of Holding for even more interdimensional storage space.- Harrow Deck The Harrow is a method of divination widely used by many Varisian fortune-tellers using a Harrow deck. The deck consists of 54 individual cards, each of which symbolizes a topic and moral stance and features the image of a corresponding figure in Varisian folklore. Alafare’s deck was passed down to her from her aunt on her 18th birthday, and though the deck itself is completely unmagical, Alafare uses her deck as a magical focus for her magecraft and summoning work.- Silver Anklet A simple silver anklet featuring a charm in the shape of a bat. This anklet acts as Boots of Mire, a magical item that grants the user the power to walk on water in swampy environments with ease, protects her from rain, fog, and other humidity, and grants her a boost in fortitude against poisons and disease. This anklet was a gift from her father upon setting out on her journey and as such something she keeps for as much sentimental value as practical.- Wedding Ring A beautiful custom-made wedding band that never leaves Alafare’s hand. This ring is an extremely powerful magical item crafted by Alafare’s wife, Katherine. The ring has several passive magical effects, from allowing the two to communicate with one another across vast distances, to monitor each other’s health psychically, being able to hone in on the exact position of the ring’s other pair with teleportation magic, and making it so their wearer is impossible to bind, restrain, or paralyze physically in any way. Channeling the magic within the ring allows one of the pair to partially shield the other from harm in exchange for taking the effects of the blow herself.-   Magical Tattoos   While Alafare’s body is covered almost entirely in tattoos, she possesses a couple across her body which are infused with magic. One tattoo acts as a magic scroll which when touched, allows her to summon Ayliana to her side instantly. Another contains a spell that keeps her body ever clean and free of any dirt and grime, and lastly, a tattoo that cloaks her in shadow on command, allowing her to potentially dodge out of the way of incoming ranged attacks and spells.-   Linguistic Talents   Alafare is an incredibly skilled linguist. Aside from teaching herself multiple languages, she has such a talent for words she is a phenomenal code breaker and encrypter. Given enough time, Alafare can even teach herself to understand the basic meaning behind sentences in the few languages the scholar doesn’t already know.-   Dhampir Biology   Born from the union of a vampire and a human, Alafare is a walking anomaly. A rare ‘dayborn’ dhampir Alafare can walk in the sunlight unimpeded, making her odd even among others of her kind, and as such on the surface she appears as any other human, albeit one with an almost unnatural, statuesque beauty.Much like her undead father, Alafare was graced by a vampire’s charismatic nature, silver tongue, and alluring beauty. Her body moves gracefully, more gliding than walking, and her expression ever remains cool and neutral, her demeanor dulled by her undead blood even when she feels the strongest of emotions. But she is not a true vampire, just as she is not truly human.While all living creatures are powered by the energies of life and creation, able to heal from it when it is channeled by clerics, Alafare is not. While not an undead, and still very much a living creature, Alafare is damaged from this positive life energy in the same way any undead would be. Instead, her body heals from negative energy, the energies of death and destruction.On top of this, her body can resist being weakened by creatures that drain the life force from others, and though she will still die if drained enough, she faces none of the ill effects and can still act normal even when drained. She is too able to recover from such abilities much easier, needing only a good night’s rest.While she cannot naturally call them to her side like a vampire can, Alafare can talk and fully understand wolves, rats, and bats, and the creatures of the night are never hostile toward her.Her connection to undeath also makes her slightly more resistant to disease and mild-altering magics than most.Like a vampire she possesses a set of fangs, though much shorter than true blood drinkers, they are still able to draw forth blood, and though she gains nothing from it nor will her body suffer without it, she still has a strong natural craving for blood, and an urge to seek it, something Alafare has spent her whole life struggling to control.FIGHTING STYLE:Alafare is a mage who specializes in summoning, conjuration, and the manipulation of spaces and distance. Being a mage, Alafare is quite weak physically and can be taken down easily if caught in melee against a strong opponent.Because of this, she will opt to teleport to safer distances if caught in a tight spot. Otherwise, she relies on her Eidolon to protect her and keep threats away from the much less durable caster.While her Eidolon is her most unique summon, Alafare is a masterclass summoner who can use her magic to swiftly call upon the aid of a wide variety of creatures from the heavens, hells, and various planes alike. Her personality can be split into two ‘modes’ when she is on a Hunt and when she is not.When hunting she is ruthless. A stalking predator who lures her victims in with promises of a pretty face and a ‘fun’ night out, before pouncing on her prey to slowly eat her victims alive. She loves the thrill of the hunt, the ‘build up’ and ‘climax’ of it all. It’s a rush like no other to her to finally be able to sink her teeth into her next meal as they scream beneath her jaws. She always eats her victims' livers, and will typically not wait for her prey to be dead before she carves it out.Despite that, she feels no hatred or malice towards humanity. Not really. ‘A girl needs to eat’ and to her, there is little distinction between ‘hunger’ ‘passion’ and ‘love'. Or at least, something she views as Love. After all, without her victims she’d starve, how could she ever hate her food?When not hunting, she is much more relaxed. BIOGRAPHY

Once a normal vixen who lived in the misty forest covered mountains of Hwanggot, after living for 1,000 years the fox acceded; gaining magic and transforming to a bloodthirsty Gumiho, a supernatural shape-shifting fox spirit.Given the power to take on a new humanoid form, along with a plethora of shape-shifting abilities and magical tricks that allow her to blend into the very shadows, she has taken to stalking the countryside and beyond, aiming for little else than her own pleasure.Seo-yeon takes on different forms and bodies like one does clothes, shifting their appearance freely to reflect that which her prey would find the most appealing. Because of this, she has various 'faces' the fox keeps as an ever expanding 'wardrobe'. From young to old, fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, every victim becomes another potential mask for the gumiho. Most commonly, however, Seo-yeon takes on the form of a young woman; having by and large found that to be the most largely appealing form to draw in her victims by.Her 'true' form is that of a bipedal human-sized nine-tailed fox monster with fur as dark as the night.Recently figured out that humans do things like 'need money' to 'get goods' so has taken to becoming an assassin for hire when in need of 'goods and services' to further her goal of living a cushy problem-free life.


IMPORTANT PORTRAYAL NOTES

  • SHAPE-SHIFTER. Seo-yeon is a powerful shapeshifting spirit who can take on a wide variety of humanoid forms. Regardless of form though she'll always have a 'tell' of some form, though she has become quite good at hiding it.

  • LIVER EATER. Seo-yeon does eat people, livers are this fox's favorite snack! That said, unless given express permission with my thread partner, I'm never going to throw your muse into a thread of Seo-yeon 'hunting' them, especially as a first meeting, even if the hunt ultimately ends up failed.

  • PRONOUNS. Seo-yeon doesn't care what pronouns others use to refer to her as!

BIOGRAPHY

Self-proclaimed ‘Magical Girl’ and a ‘Hero of Love and Justice’ Serena is a… strange child; though also a extremely optimistic one with a very active imagination. She grew up reading stories of great heroes and magical adventures, with her favorite being a ‘fellow Hero of Love and Justice’ known as ‘Cure Cosmos’ who she idolizes even now.As far as her past goes, it’s really rather simple, her father was a carpenter, her mother was a weaver, her small family (in which she was the only child) lived near the feywilds. Serena, like most children, grew up alongside an imaginary friend she refers to as ‘Cyithy’ who watches over her to this day.One day Cyithy suggested they go play in the woods together for a while, Serena agreed, completely unaware that that ‘while’ would turn out to be 700 years. Whoops!


IMPORTANT PORTRAYAL NOTES

  • FEY NONSENSE. Serena has been in the feywilds since around the age of 9, having grown up within her patron's court. The Court of Sands is wonky about time even by feywild standards, with time sometimes existing (as Cyithy puts it) 'backwards, forwards, upside down and inside out'. Because of this Serena basically hasn't aged much in the roughly 700 years she spent in the realm, and the few years she has aged have been spread out across an unknowable perception of time and, possibly, only allowed by the whims of her patron to allow the girl to eventually adventure with the Riverwall Adventures who would come to involve themselves with the Fey due to the schemings of a certain troublesome bunch. Serena says it's better to not think about it, time stuff gives headaches, and she is 'the age she is meant to be'. She is perfectly fine with an eternal childhood and never growing up.

  • LEVEL. Serena is a 20th level adventurer! She is extremely powerful by her setting's standards and is well capable of defending herself. Her bow HURTS and she has almost single-handedly taken down demigods before with some well-aimed shots. Please keep that in mind when interacting with her!

  • HOMEBREW. Serena comes from a homebrewed game! In her game, the Archfey acted as a pseudo-pantheon, having near the level of power as proper divinity, with Titania herself being a goddess within the setting (though she was seldom called as such). That game has long since ended, and due to that I have shifted Serena's lore post-game to be very flexible with my own added world-building with that game's DM's blessing!

  • PETER-PAN. Serena is a child. While I am fine with writing her being in danger (even of the life-threatening sort!) as is common in the nature of games like D&D from which she comes from, I will NEVER write her in sexual scenarios or as having anything more than a familial / platonic bond with any adult muses. Depending on who you ask, Cyithrel is either the oldest or youngest of Titania's eleven children. The only thing agreed upon is that she falls to one extreme or the other. Some legends even state that she is older than her own mother. Cyithrel is the lady of the parlour of sand. Between her and her court she is responsible for many of the stories of time being lost in the feywilds. The rate of the flow of time in her lands is in a constant state of flux. Sometimes minutes on the inside are days on the outside and other times years can pass within it in but a moment.While generally kind and goodnatured, Cyithrel is incapable of feeling regret or guilt, and cares little for past events only concerning herself with the now and the future. This can cause her to come across as callous or uncaring when dealing with mortals as she may do something harmful to them one moment and then get offended when they don't trust her the next. Though by the same token, she is rather unfey like in that she doesn't hold grudges.Serena is not her only warlock, but she is by and far her most powerful and her clear favorite. The fey views Serena fondly, as one does a well-loved and taken care of pet. Because of this, Serena holds a fair amount of sway within the Court of Sands, though the girl knows better than to use that connection lightly.Cyithrel seldom gives Serena direct orders, and largely lets the girl do as she pleases. When she is given orders, they are often strange, obtuse, and their purpose is not immediately obvious. A bitter, ill-tempered thing with an often wicked tongue. Though she carries herself with an air of calm and practiced refinement, Kalliope has closed off her heart, keeping it well guarded. Not wanting to be betrayed again, she decided she rather be alone than risk more heartbreak and humiliation, and swiftly lashes out at anyone who annoys her. BIOGRAPHY

Born to an isolated mermaid community deep in the Fever Sea, from a young age Kalliope had an interest in the arcane. Where most of her peers found their talents in enchanting songs, she instead found it in potion bottles and cauldrons. Brewing oils, poisons, potions, and anything else she could learn to create, Kalliope quickly gained a hunger for knowledge. One that made her peers concerned, and one that caused her ever so nice parents to keep her under watch, locking her notes and brewing materials away for 'her own good’ forbidding her from leaving the cove. And so naturally, she frequently snuck away from her parents' ever judging gaze to search old shipwrecks and nearby abandoned islands for anything that looked remotely useful for her newfound hobby.It was on one such excursion that Kalliope found a strange frigate bird (or perhaps, that the bird found her), sitting on the wheel of a crashed ship…. Leagues underwater. She doesn’t speak much about what happened after that, claiming the details to be a secret made between her and the seas. Yet one thing is certain, on that day Kalliope became a proper witch, returning to her home with a newfound ‘pet’. And shortly after that, rumors began to spread.In her own words, her former cove was full of nice folk. They didn’t run her out of the village with pitchforks, no, it was much more gentle than that. While Kalliope was never the most social, she had still considered the cove her home. She had friends she cared about, a community she felt safe in. But over time, she soon found herself being gently pushed to the sidelines by her cove. Merfolk stopped talking to her, she was left out of conversations that were happening in the same room she was in, people forgot to invite her to local community events, people found themselves busy, stores always seemed to be out of stock for anything she needed. What few friends she had cut her off, acting as if they had never met her to begin with. Bitterness grew in her more by the day, only growing as the hushed words and whispered rumors grew around her. And as soon as she was old enough, her parents made a firm request for Kalliope to move out of their home.So move out she did. Out to a cave in the fringes of the cove. Kalliope was alone. But she was content. Away from prying eyes and gossiping whispers, from all those nice people who oh so gently ran her out for being too different and creepy for their liking. A danger. So what if she had no one? At least she could keep studying her craft in peace.Three years had passed since then. Now known to the cove as little more than ‘the creepy witch living on the edge of town’, letting them come up with whatever wild stories about her they so wished.It was during one of her many trips to shallower waters in search for potion ingredients and spell books that she was found and captured by the The Wormwood Pirates. They wanted for themselves a beautiful lass of the deep blue sea, a ‘lucky charm’ for the superstitious sailors who earnestly believed keeping mermaids on sailing ships would bring them good luck. Or at least such was claimed by her captors who dared take her from her oceanic home. Kalliope found herself a newcomer to the surface, kidnapped by pirates and locked in a cage much too small for her, chained so that even jumping overboard back into the seas wasn’t an option. The entire ordeal has made the mermaid more than a little ill-tempered.Though it seemed fortune at least was on Kalliope's side. Soon the Wormwood had 'found' itself new crewmates, a group of adventurers press-ganged into working under the ship's cruel Captain Harrigan. Together, the group were able to lead a successful mutiny against Harrigan, escaping on a vessel they managed to 'acquire' along with a group of pirates that had enough of Harrigan's brutal leadership.Together they formed a new pirate crew, dubbing their ship the Unbound Siren (much to Kalliope's annoyance) and the mer was one again free. No longer shackled and free to go any time she wished, the witch decided to stay with the newly founded pirate crew out of a desire to study and hone her magical craft; finding herself curiously drawn to the fellow mage the crew soon met early into their voyage. The crew now sails the open seas, looking for treasure and glory.And of course, Harrigan was still out there in the seas somewhere, angry at the crew's escape, eager to hunt them down. And slowly becoming a more and more powerful caster herself, Kalliope was always one eager for proper revenge.

BIOGRAPHY

An orphan whose parent's died in a house fire when she was 9, only her and her twin sibling survived. This fire was likely caused by Shadows, though the twins are unaware of this. Was taken in by her uncle, a tired businessman, and his many dogs.Gets in trouble often for 'delinquent activity' but is actually an extremely good-natured kid. Loud and Down to Fight.Perhaps because of this she was chosen to be a 'Shadow Hunter', a Magical Girl tasked with purifying Shadows - the twisted manifestations of people's inner struggles and desires given monstrous form. While she doesn't regret her choice, it turns out being a magical girl is a lot harder than anime makes it seem. Now caught in a fierce struggle for the very souls of the city she has come to know as home, she clings onto her new-found family and fellow Magical Children fiercely.

- An old as dirt red dragon who was perfectly happy just accumulating wealth and power for all her life, was born long ago when the earth was new. She takes rather long 'naps' which can last several centuries.- One day, her only close friend, a fae dragon Ireis viewed as an equal, brought her newly laid egg to Ireis and asked the Red to swear that if something ever happened to her, to promise to take care of her child and make sure she grew up happy/healthy and living a 'normal' life where she was allowed to explore and learn about the world around her. Ireis promised her old friend what to her seemed a trivial matter, before taking a century or so long nap. When she woke up she found her friend had been killed by dragon slayers, her egg stolen to sell off for Big Rich Bidders™️- She did the typical red dragon thing of tracking down the poachers and setting the entire place, all their loved ones, and them, on fire before taking back the (now hatched) newly born baby dragon naming her Arrina- So now in order to keep her promise to her dear departed friend she is trying to figure out how to Raise a Kid in a way that fulfils that promise's intentions. She is well aware that Arrina can't have a 'normal' childhood (to a fae dragon) in her lava castle, and requires the chance to explore and hone her naturally curious nature, so she has moved them into a suitable settlement, disguising herself as human, and now seeks to raise the fae dragon for a next few centuries until she comes into her own

Whether Wishbone is an actual hellhound or not is unconfirmed, though it seems the houndoom isn’t exactly an entirely normal pokemon even before contracting with Clara.-PARTNER. Wishbone is not a wild pokemon, it seems as part of their contract, Clara has caught Wishbone in a proper pokeball. However, Wishbone refuses to go into its pokeball and will never be seen in it, this is simply because Wishbone would be incapable of assisting Clara while inside his pokeball. Wishbone was caught in a dusk ball.-FADE TO SHADOW. Wishbone possesses the ability to slip into Clara’s shadow, hiding there until called upon. Nyx tends to move around Clara’s home via crawlspaces and shadows, rarely showing itself directly to others unless it's Clara herself or someone close to her. Clara herself is very interested in what ‘mysterious energies’ allow the Gollet to move around, and keeps the pokemon around as a research subject of sorts.
-SPIRITOMB. A wild spiritomb who has recently just… shown up in Clara’s attic. Clara isn’t sure how it got up there, she is probably less concerned about its presence than she should be.

Spirits stir from ancient crypts, the dead awoken from an eternal slumber.
Probably just rumors.Piles of bones can’t just move on their own after all.
Not unless someone else is pulling the strings.
One of legend, one of magic, one that can twist and weave the world around them to their every whim.
One who plays with even the border of life and death.
The witch.Some may claim she isn’t real.
That her kind is little more than a fairytale.
But truth is often stranger than fiction.

A born mage, Clara is the youngest member of the Lorelei family, a family of witches with a long history and a rather large still living family line, something that has become extremely rare after the events of the Witch Hunts. While her family has historically always had dealings with the dead (even now in the modern age, the Lorelei family holds down the job of morticians within the small Unovan town they have called home for the last couple of years) Clara took a particular interest in death.To Clara, death was never something to be feared. It was as natural a part of life as well… living was. A continuation of a cycle, not a stop to it. As such, Clara’s growing curiosity and desire to, in her own words, ‘better understand death’ eventually led to her discovering her talents in arcane arts of a very dark, very undead, nature. Clara herself views these talents as nothing to fear or worry about. Not that this stops some of her family from being concerned for her anyway.Still, it’s undeniable that Clara is an extremely talented necromancer, even at her young age she has gained quick mastery over the practice, and spends every moment only pushing herself to discover better and bigger uses for her magic. This has led to her in recent years taking off on her own away from her family home to further research and experiment with her magical findings.Moving from Unova to Kalos, making a home for herself in a rather unassuming cabin in the outskirts of Laverre City, and joining a local witch coven, while still a relative newcomer to the community, her presence has already caused quite a stir among those who have met her.Unlike most of her kind, Clara is quite willing to openly interact with humans. This has led to her picking up the job of an assistant for a local human doctor she befriended who doesn’t seem to mind her ‘odd hobbies’ or the myriad ghost types who seem to shadow her every step.


IMPORTANT PORTRAYAL NOTES

  • NAME. Clara’s true name is ‘Clari Viola Loreley’. Due to the magic of a creature's true name, this name is a closely kept secret and very much on a need-to-know basis.

  • SPECIES. Clara was born a Mage, to two Mage parents. She has no knowledge of what it is like to live as a normal Human. That said, she is still very, very, young by witch standards and is much more adapted to the modern age and human culture compared to a great number of her peers.

  • EYES. Eyes are light reflective - she has eye shine, and will reflect light from street lamps, flash lights, cameras, etc. Outside of that, her eyes tend to have a very soft, light violet glow in low lighting.

  • SKELEFRIENDS. Clara names all her constructs! These names almost never match the name the creature carried while alive.

  • SOCIAL MEDIA. Clara is pretty active on social media, while she doesn’t have a large following by any means, her ‘adventures log’ live posts into old abandoned buildings have gained a small following over the years.

  • RELIGION. Old-world pagan. Pokemon-wise, this means she primarily worships the Xerneas/Yveltal/Zygarde trio, but does hold respect for entities from other regions.

  • ZOMBIES VS SKELETONS. Clara is capable of creating proper zombies, fleshy constructs are no different than skeletal ones as far as what it takes to animate them. That said, old bones are easier to get a hold of than decaying bodies, and much less noticeable for the purposes of storing/hiding. For this reason, most of Clara’s constructs will be skeletons.

  • TECH. Man made items won’t be fooled and will register her as an unknown entity regardless of form. However, she’s similar enough to humans that Pokeballs don’t register her as a Pokemon unless modded to do so.

  • BLOOD BOND. The biggest ingredient needed in necromatic rituals is blood. Typically, her own. If you see her hands or arms covered in fresh bandaids, it likely means she recently performed a large-scale necromatic ritual.

  • CRIMES. Clara is a nefarious grave robber. She has yet to get caught, but she really does like pushing her limits as to how many times she can steal from a particular gravesite before being forced to look elsewhere.

  • NO SOUL STUFF. Clara doesn’t like dealing with, as she calls it, the ‘soul stuff’ in necromancy. It is a hassle to her, and often extremely dangerous. Her constructs are more akin to programmed robots powered by her magic than trapped souls forced to pilot bodies. While Clara CAN do soul trapping magic, she tends to avoid it.

  • VERY LATE CLERIC. While, theoretically, Clara is capable of bringing someone back from the dead (as in, proper resurrection, not as a construct or in similar temporary way) the consequences of performing such a ritual without the aid of a godly being to help the process are catastrophic and life shattering for both the necromancer and the person they are reviving. Lots of soul-splitting involved. It's very messy. Clara refuses to ever try to revive someone who has passed, and is wary of even sharing the know-how to others who ask.

  • HEARTBEAT. All witches' heartbeats are unique, and vary depending on what leyline they draw their power from. In Clara’s case, her heartbeat is unnaturally slow and very low, sounding almost non-existent when examined. It’s almost like she doesn’t have one at all.

Clara’s specialties revolve around necromancy and similar magic involving the ghostly and undead. She is still a rather young witch however, and while she could easily be considered a prodigy in the field of necromatic magic, there is still much to learn and master about her powers.

Clara’s power source is the flow of death itself (and life to an extent, but life in the sense of 'reanimation/life after death') - not internally in her body, though she is capable of storing up a limited degree of that power.- BODY: Her body operates off mana and is fully dependent on being connected to a greater leyline at all times - it keeps her alive, she will not survive long if her connection is severed.- IRRADIATED: Her body is practically irradiated with energy, and has no real way to hide this. She will show up on any radar that is made to detect the presence of Pokémon, energy leaks, or other anomalies.- HEALING: The magic keeping her body alive actively repairs and maintains it, so she’s prone to healing faster than a regular human. Even among other witches, her powers of regeneration tends to be faster than others. While not so noticeable as to raise immediate alarm bells, it is certainly a much faster pace than an average human. She also doesn’t usually get visibly scarred unless the injury was made by something that clashes with the energy keeping her alive - ie: steel, acid, or poison.- SENSITIVE: Due to being highly attuned to a leyline, she’s able to sense the flow of magic and any major disturbances to it in her immediate area. Major disturbances in her leyline tend to be rare, all things considered, and picking up any will normally send Clara into an immediate ‘time to buckle down until the danger passes’ mode.-   Other Quicks  - COLOR: When manifesting as raw unfocused energy, Clara’s powers have a light violet glow!- IRON: She is essentially a fae. She cannot easily affect Iron and alloys made primarily of iron with her powers, and iron-based attacks or objects will cut through her - and her magic - like butter. Steel-typed moves, pokemon, or abilities are assumed to be Iron-based unless otherwise noted. Non-iron metals do not interact with her nearly as critically.- GHOST MAGNET. Clara is a walking ghost-type magnet. Whether they are drawn to her simply because of the necromatic energy flowing through her body or because of her constant grave robbing is unclear, but it isn’t rare to see a myriad of ghost types following her around.- PSYCHIC: Clara is not a psychic and shows no sign of psychic ability - she cannot generate power by using her own self as the power source, use telekinesis, read minds, or anything else like that. However, she will generally view psychics and the like as pre-evolved Mages and consider them kindred, even if they’re not the same.-   Inventory

FIGHTING STYLE:Clara would rather avoid combat all together, she is the sort to try to talk or reason her way out of a confrontation instead of letting it come to full blows. That said, if forced into a fight, Clara herself has the physical defensiveness of a wet paper bag. She won’t last long in a close-quarters fight. Fortunately, she rarely has be the one in melee range.Clara is a necromancer after all, if she can help it, she won’t be the one doing the fighting, instead sending hordes of skeleton constructs upon her foes.Much like a classic zombie movie, while her constructs are rarely individually that big of a threat (each one being pretty easy to dispose of on its own) there is strength in numbers, and throwing enough bodies at a problem will typically be enough to either overwhelm her foe, or let Clara slip away in the chaos.She has the ability to command a large multitude of undead at once, her only real limit being how much time she has to prepare in advance and her ability to maintain focus over her constructs.Giving her time to prepare is a huge mistake.Despite her wishy-washy and freewheeling personality, Clara’s magic works best almost entirely based on prior preparation and set up. Something she is keenly aware of. It is because of this she tends to carry bones of her constructs with her (in a backpack) and even store constructs in locations she frequently visits.Do not let the necromancer have time to prepare, unless you want to deal with a Skeleton Horde.As far as her own capabilities go, however, she is a speedy, tenacious thing. While her physical defenses might be lacking, she is notoriously hard to hit (tending to opt for confusing her opponent, or inflicting them with a status effect before retreating to somewhere she will have access to her Horde™) and even if she is injured, she is able to regenerate from injuries rather quickly.She is a witch who plays with the borders of life and death, even by witch standards she is hard to keep down for good.Fortunately Clara really much rather avoid conflict though, and views it more as a last resort than anything.


FAQ.

(currently just c+p off corvidmagicae, since it will cover mostly the same questions relevant to Clara, will be added too/edited later as needed)SHE’S A WITCH? Yep! Specifically, a traditional fairy-tale type witch. The kind you’d see talked about in folklore or legends. She’s not a modern or Hollywood-type witch.
Why? There’s quite a few unexplained things in Pokemon’s universe, from ghost events to giant, immortality-granting fairy-powered death weapons. Things which… don’t exactly function by the rules of science as we know it. Bri is tailored to explore that side of the Pokemon World. Also there was an actual witch in an episode of the anime, so I’m taking it and running.
DIFFERENCES? Witch, mage, sorcerer, they’re all essentially the same thing in lore in the end - a mystical, magic-using person who can help or hinder the protagonist depending on their role in the story. Different names from different cultures for the same thing. I use the terms interchangeably, as they’re technically referring to the same type of character archetype, and thus the same type of being on this blog.MEDIA INSPIRATIONS? Though the bulk of my source is from folklore entirely, I have borrowed select concepts from a couple different series! Though, they’re still a pale comparison to how much folklore, history, and general creativity in tying it back into the pokemon world setting influenced this blog.

WHO CAN KNOW SHE’S A WITCH? As long as your character is the observant type, and is able to catch onto her gambit if it’s within their own capabilities, then it’s entirely your call.
If your character is another supernatural creature, has sensitivities to the world around them (psychics/aura users/etc), a fairy type, or fairy type specialist, then feel free to have them know right off the bat or know something’s extremely off about her! They have the means for it, so you don’t need my permission for that.
IS THE MAGIC ON THIS BLOG BASED IN REALITY? You mean modern witchcraft and/or any associated religions? No. She’s not that type of witch. She is very strictly a fairy tale type of witch. I know there’s a very active scene for witchcraft, but it is not something that I am personally involved with, so I'm purposely avoiding it in order to avoid possibly disrespecting current practitioners.
However, if you are a current practitioner and you have ideas, suggestions, or anything else you’d like me to think about, I’m all ears! Just because I'm not using modern witchcraft on this blog doesn’t mean I'm not open to improving how I portray things on this muse.
ORIGINS. Bridgette is based on traditional folklore associated with the concept of witches, as well as their standings in history over the course of time, and the old fairy tales involving them. Bridgette herself takes direct inspiration from the German fairy tale Jorinde and Joringel. Of course, modified to put a Pokemon appropriate spin on things. She is specifically meant to be a fairy-tale type witch.
IS SHE HUMAN? OR POKEMON? Neither or Both. Mages are a borderline existence between humanity and everything else, so they’re an uncanny existence with a foot in both doors - one with humanity, and one with pokemon. She looks like a human at face value, but her biology beyond implies otherwise. As such, she’d be a bit of a scientific curiosity if discovered.
Whether or not she's going to be classified as one or the other - or neither - should be done in-thread, between characters. Is she a pokemon, or is she human? Or is she something else entirely? Enjoy your moral ambiguity.
RUMORS & ASSUMPTIONS? Feel free to assume anything about Bridgette’s nature! I mean it! That’s the whole point of her type of character existing - there should be more rumors flying around about her than fact! It doesn’t matter if it’s true or not - the idea that someone out there, somewhere, believes it is true is what matters. If you wanna think she may or may not have done something, no matter how silly or serious, go for it! I’ll run to the hills with it.
HOW MUCH DO TABLETOP GAMES ACTUALLY INFLUENCE HER? Personality/plot-wise? Not much. But I have used the Pathfinder Witch class to help me figure out how her abilities work, what all she is capable of, and under what mechanics she operates. Since that system is really nice for that. I’ve actually built a mock-up of her as an end-game or recurring boss NPC, which you can see her build here. As a note though, she should be suffering from quite a few permanent negative levels. Elsie doesn't refer to them by name often for fear of drawing her attention while she's slacking off.

BIOGRAPHY

- Was ‘kidnapped’ by an old sorcerer when she was around 9 sometime back in the 1800s, became their apprentice soon after (even though that mostly meant ‘doing chores’/'running errands’ for most of her life)- Has always had the ability to see/communicate with spirits even when she was still human. This was one of the reasons the Sorcerer took interest in her in the first place.- Became a full youkai magician at around 24~ years old- Not very youkai like, she kept a lot of her ‘humanity’, though her tendency to be very casual about performing off-putting rituals and performing strange sacrifices or other such occult acts tends to unnerve a lot of humans and thus most tend to avoid her.- Has formed various Contracts will all manner of creatures. These contracts range from "Spirit that does the laundry" to "Spirit that will save me from being eaten by a tiger" with uses ranging from extremely simple mundane tasks to deeply specific. She has all these contracts perfectly memorized, and is diligent in performing their upkeep when needed.- The Wizard Tower she calls home is a recent arrival to Gensokyo, dragging itself into the Forest of Magic due to The Sorcerer's whims.   • CONTRACTS. Elsie is meant to have all sorts of contracts for all sorts of things, preparing for scenarios of all sorts. I will never fully list out her complete list of contracts, as it's meant to be a constantly expanding list, but consider any Contract that may come up in any of my threads with her to be part of her 'canon' contracts unless otherwise noted!

  • INSPIRATION. Elsie draws her motifs and themes from both the poem "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" along with the folklore of "Faust". In a very touhou-esc fashion, while she is heavily inspired by the stories of Faust (most notably the tragic play written by Goethe), and the events of these Geothe works will at times be referenced by her, she herself is not meant to directly be either of these figures.

- Like all youkai magicians, she no longer needs to eat, drink, or sleep, relying on her connection to magic to keep her body alive for her. Magic will also naturally repair her body over time, allowing her to quickly heal from most injuries given enough time.
- Physically, she is still only as strong as an average human. A rather physically inactive one at that.
  DANMAKU.  
- A form of fighting common in Gensokyo, preferred over normal combat because it avoids bloodshed.
- Her own Spell Cards have a Tarot/Major Arcana motif
- She primarily uses purple/pink/white card and heart shaped danmaku
- Uses her contracted spirits to fight…. Though under the Spell Card Rules this results in the use of ‘phantasmal bullets’ that have no effect on regular humans.
- Besides the major arcana motif, she also has spell cards named off of major incidents said to have been predicted by someone in the past (armageddon, the battle of troy, ect.) or major incidents predicted as yet to come (the rapture ect.)
FIGHTING STYLE:A very squishy mage. Outside of Spell Card duels, she relies on her contracted spirits to fight others for her and keep her out of harms way. A lot of her contracts are "fallbacks" with various triggers meant to save her if things look dicey.Does badly in close-combat or long/dragged-out fights, and would rather flee long before things turn dire.

BIOGRAPHY

Isabelle was born on a chilly October night to Emily and Jonathan Finch. Their only child, the two quickly grew protective of her, especially when the girl became old enough to start expressing the more independent parts of her nature. The Finch's were a well-off family, with enough money to live in comfort and afford some luxuries, many of which were used to care for and educate Isabelle as she grew up. She attended school, and did quite well, maintaining high scores throughout. While always quite sociable, Isabelle never kept any close friends, preferring her time at home or her adventures out alone with her thoughts than to any mundane outings with others her age.In many ways, she took after her father in that regard, though saying it as such was truly an understatement. The two were eerily alike, not just in looks, but also in personality. However, without a doubt, the trait that Isabelle took after her father the most was her love of the written word.Isabelle was born a writer. There was no other way to put it, the word perfectly described her, for it was as if she was born to hold a pen in her hand, born to jot down her words and innermost thoughts onto the page. It didn't matter what it was, journals, essays, poems, notes, just pages upon pages she burned through at an astounding pace, detailing and cataloging whatever caught the girl's interest. She learned what it took to be a reporter, how to seek out the next big scoop and catch the juiciest interviews. Her writing only ever improving and flourishing throughout. By the time she was 15, she began writing her own pieces for the paper. She started out small. No more than a few paragraphs featured on the backs of the undeniably much more important pages, but soon she began to prove her worth. She began to show that she wasn't simply riding by on her father’s coattails, but had the skill to hold her place in the paper by her own merit. Her intuition for finding exciting and new events, and her unique and enchanting writing style slowly gaining her larger and more predominant positions in the paper alongside her fellow journalists. By the time she was 18, she became a full-fledged writer and reporter for the paper, and has been working her way up ever since.

Isabelle’s nosy attitude and shameless reporting style has landed her on less than good terms with some.Really, what else is one to expect with a reporter who holds back no punches and could care less about things like titles and ranks? While still relatively new compared to other newspaper companies in London, the ‘Evening Star’ has distinguished itself from the competition for its much more unorthodox approach to journalism. The paper has gained notable success and popularity, and while still pretty unknown, the ‘Evening Star’ has begun to make a name for itself in recent years and has begun to gain a loyal following.Isabelle has a shameless reporting style. She has the tendency to “sometimes” exaggerate events and “sometimes” insert her own personal opinions into a story. On top of this, she could care less about who someone is, what rank or title they may carry or how much influence they hold, treating everyone equally in her reports. As a result, many don't want to see themselves in her articles, and she is on less than good terms with some.
